I found this recipe in the Organics Cook Bible. They have a little bit of heat from the cayenne pepper which makes them a great snack.
1 cup halved walnuts
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1/8 tsp salt
Place a large skillet over med heat and when hot add walnut mixture. I stir with a wooden spoon till they are evenly coated and browned. Don't overcook! Spread mixture on rimmed baking tray till cool, package and enjoy!
They make a nice salad topper.
You can also mix sour cream with a little brown sugar for a topping for a fruit salad. Top with a few of these broken up nuts...YUM!
I love nuts and eat a few almonds each day. I have never tried any like this. Certainly sounds very good. So glad you dropped by for a visit.
ReplyDeleteMary,
ReplyDeleteI love all kinds of nuts and these are my favorite! I can't wait to sprinkle them with cayenne pepper and sugar.
It's going to be hard to wait for them to cool. I'm just saying. :-)

ReplyDeleteGlad I decided to check on the blogs I follow and saw this recipe again. I'm curious with the cayenne pepper if they are super spicy hot? I don't like anything too spicy that burns my tongue.
ReplyDeleteYum those look so good! I'll have to make some for salads :)
ReplyDeleteThese look yummy!! :)
ReplyDeleteBecky, just cut back on the cayenne pepper, I don't think they are too hot but I like hot & spicy.
